      This is a very interesting question and i read it in two ways

      1. If you are asking where did HPV originate from, it is a very difficult question to answer and i am afraid we dont know that. The first reports of HPV being detected were in the 1950s when people identified it in warts. But HPV certainly existed much before that.

      2. If your question is where do we get HPV from, that is fairly more straightforward- there are lots of differnt types of HPV. Some are genital HPVs which is what people know more of and these are transmitted sexually from someone who has them. They cause warts and in some extreme cases cause genital cancers. There are also HPV types that the neck and mouth. Other than these, there are those HPV types that infect the skin and cause warts on skin.
