At present there is no cure for arthritis only treatments that can help alleviate the pain or slow down the degeneration of bone that causes the condition.
You can get septic or infectious arthritis if bacteria get into your joints and cause inflammation. Because this kind of arthritis is caused by bacteria it can be treated with antibiotics to kill of the bacteria. You are more likely to get infective arthritis if you have a replacement artificial joint.
As Peter said – other types of non-infectious arthritis cannot be cured by antibiotics.
Mmmm.. Thought that’s what you’d say? I’ve had Arthritis for years but was only diagnosed last year. Im on etanercept just now that helps (touch wood!)
