• Question: Hi, Do you think that increasing the quality of hygiene of children will have a large effect on infection when they are older with their knowledge of good hygiene? Thanks, Patch.

Hi Patch thanks for your question.

I strongly believe that good hygiene technique is hugely important to improving our health. But no one ever seems to talk about it properly we all assume we know how to do if properly.

That’s why the activity I would continue to run would address this. By making hand washing into a fun an interactive experience I hope that the message will stick in people’s minds. This is a life skill which they could then pass on later in life to others to further improve people’s general health.

A few years ago nurses on a ward that was suffering from high infection rates were retrained to wash their hands effectively and afterwards the infection rates dropped significantly. This shows me just how important my message is.
