Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you for all the students for voting me as your Infectious Disease Zone winner.

The two week event has been an absolute blast. When I first started I did not know what to expect, but the more I took part the more addicted I became. The depth and variety of the questions asked was staggering and it fills me with happiness to know that there are so many intellectual minds out there who are not afraid to ask the questions they want answers to.

Hopefully I was able to show that science can be fun and exciting and I hope that the students also managed to learn that scientists are also people too with hobbies and interests similar to many of the students themselves.

I look forward to receiving my cheque so that I can get out there and interact with more people to let them know the importance of effective hand washing and really hope that I can make it to some of the schools who took part in the process.

My appreciation to the other scientists who took part, I hope that like me they found the whole process very rewarding.

Finally thank you to the developers of the website, without whom this event would have no home and of course to all the wonderful moderators who helped to run the show and answered all the questions I had.
